Software Privacy Notice for CrewLAN Host

Purpose of this Software Privacy Notice

This Software Privacy Notice explains how CrewLAN Host and local CrewLAN workspaces handle data. It supplements the general Privacy Policy for the CrewLAN Website and CrewLAN License Manager.

Local-First Operation

CrewLAN is designed for local-network operation. During ordinary workspace use, chat messages, status updates, notes, tables, alert history, display names, roles, local identities and workspace settings are processed locally on the host device and within the local network. They are not transmitted to CrewLAN servers during ordinary local operation.

Local Storage

CrewLAN Host stores workspace data in a local database on the host device. Workspace exports and backups may contain workspace content, including personal data if users enter such data. Customers and hosts are responsible for securing, backing up, deleting and controlling access to local workspace data and exports.

No Local Encryption

Workspace data is not currently encrypted at rest by CrewLAN Host. Workspace passwords are intended as practical access control for a selected group in a local crew environment. They are not designed as a high-security or strong data-protection mechanism. Users should not use CrewLAN workspaces for sensitive personal data, confidential secrets or security-critical information unless they have assessed and accepted the local security setup.

Audio / Shoutbox

Shoutbox audio communication is transmitted live over the local network and is not stored by CrewLAN Host as a recording. CrewLAN servers do not receive audio content during ordinary local operation.

Participants and Customer Responsibility

Where CrewLAN is used in an event, production, workplace or team context, the customer or host normally determines the purposes and content of workspace use. The customer or host is responsible for informing participants, setting appropriate internal rules and ensuring that no unnecessary personal or sensitive data is entered into the workspace.

License and Update Data

License activation, deactivation and update checks may involve communication with license.crewlan.com. This may include the entered email address for email activation, license key information, app version, random device identifier, user-editable device label and activation status.

Support Cases

CrewLAN does not automatically upload workspace databases, logs, screenshots or exports for support. If users voluntarily send such data to support, the content may be processed to handle the support request. Users should review and remove unnecessary personal or confidential data before sending support material.

No Telemetry or Crash Reports

CrewLAN Host does not intentionally transmit crash reports, telemetry or diagnostic data to CrewLAN servers. If this changes, this Software Privacy Notice will be updated and, where required, consent or other legal requirements will be addressed.

Recommended Use

CrewLAN should be used as an operational communication tool for local event and team coordination. It should not be used as the only communication channel for emergency, safety-critical, medical, life-critical or legally mandatory communications.
