Software License Terms / EULA
Parties and Scope
These Software License Terms govern the use of CrewLAN Host, CrewLAN and related local workspace components. CrewLAN is licensed by Jonas Zitzmann, Huellberg 2, 91344 Waischenfeld, Germany. CrewLAN is a product name and not a separate legal entity.
Merchant of Record
Purchases are processed by Digistore24 as merchant of record. Digistore24 handles checkout, payment, invoices, VAT handling and purchase-related refunds. These Software License Terms govern the software license granted by Jonas Zitzmann.
License Grant
Subject to lawful purchase, activation and compliance with these terms, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use CrewLAN Host for the purchased major version and for the number of host device activations purchased.
Host-Based Licensing
Licensing is per host device running CrewLAN Host, not per team member or browser participant. One purchased activation permits use on one host device. Additional purchased quantities increase the number of permitted host device activations. Purchases made with the same email address for the same product may be combined into the same license key and activation capacity.
Major Versions and Updates
A license for CrewLAN Host v1 covers CrewLAN Host v1 and included minor or patch updates for v1. Future major versions, such as v2, may require a separate paid license or upgrade. A perpetual license for a major version does not include lifetime support, lifetime updates, indefinite compatibility with future operating systems or free access to future major versions.
Activation and Offline Use
CrewLAN Host requires internet access for initial activation. Activated devices may remain valid offline for a long offline validity period, currently 3650 days. After expiry of the offline validity period, the license key or email activation must be validated again. Downloads, updates, license management and reactivation may require internet access.
Deactivation and Refunds
Activation and deactivation are performed in CrewLAN Host. There is currently no fixed limit on deactivation and reactivation. If a purchase is refunded, charged back, reversed or otherwise invalidated, the corresponding activation capacity may be removed or reduced and no new devices may be activated using the affected license capacity.
Permitted Use
You may use CrewLAN Host to create, manage, import, export, back up, delete and run local CrewLAN workspaces for lawful event, production, team and operational communication purposes. Browser participants may access the local workspace through the local network without installing CrewLAN Host.
Restrictions
- Do not sell, rent, lease, sublicense, lend or transfer license keys except where mandatory law allows otherwise.
- Do not circumvent activation, license limits, offline validity checks or technical protection measures.
- Do not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software except where mandatory law allows this.
- Do not use CrewLAN to process unlawful content, attack networks, infringe rights or violate applicable law.
- Do not use CrewLAN as the sole communication system for emergency, safety-critical, medical, life-critical or legally mandatory communications.
Local Network, Infrastructure and Backup Responsibility
CrewLAN depends on the local network, host device, browser devices, operating system, firewall settings, Wi-Fi/LAN quality and user configuration. You are responsible for testing the setup before use, maintaining suitable backup communication channels, securing the host device and creating backups or exports where required.
Workspace Data and Security
CrewLAN workspaces may contain user-generated content. Workspace data is stored locally and is not currently encrypted at rest by CrewLAN Host. Workspace passwords are practical access controls but are not designed as high-security protection. You are responsible for deciding what data may be entered into the workspace and for informing participants where required.
Recommended Capacity
Unless otherwise stated in product documentation, any participant numbers are recommendations and not guaranteed limits. As a practical orientation, up to 30 workspace participants and up to 5 Shoutbox participants may be recommended for typical local setups, depending on local infrastructure and devices.
Warranty and Consumer Rights
Mandatory statutory rights, especially consumer rights that cannot be excluded, remain unaffected. Otherwise, CrewLAN is provided as software for local operational communication and is not guaranteed to be error-free, uninterrupted, compatible with every device, network or operating system, or suitable for safety-critical use.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, mandatory product liability or other liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, liability for simple negligence is limited to foreseeable, typical damage resulting from breach of essential contractual obligations. Liability for lost profits, event cancellation losses, loss of production, loss of data without adequate backup, network failures or use as a sole safety-critical communication channel is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
Termination
The license may be suspended or terminated if you materially breach these terms, circumvent licensing, misuse the software or if the underlying purchase is refunded, charged back or reversed. Termination does not affect mandatory statutory rights.
Export Control and Sanctions
You may not use, export, re-export or provide CrewLAN in violation of applicable export control, sanctions or embargo laws. You must not use CrewLAN if you are prohibited from receiving the software under applicable law.
Governing Law and Language
These terms are governed by German law, excluding conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise. The legally relevant language of these terms is English.
